Tom is a Technical Director within the GSMA, the trade organisation of Mobile Network operators and the organiser of the MWC and Mobile 360 events. In this position, Tom has been responsible for the developments around RCS Messaging, which as a successor to SMS and MMS, is bringing the operators' messaging service into the 21st century. As well as supporting the wider community and the GSMA internally from technical perspective, Tom has been driving the RCS specification development and interoperability testing between RCS clients on devices and networks supporting RCS.

More recently, Tom's role has been expanded with the support of the activities in the Operator Platform and Telco Edge Cloud groups as well as being the GSMA's representative in CNTT, the joint project between the GSMA and Linux Foundation Networking looking into common definitions for virtualisation infrastructure to support operator networks. In this role, Tom is also the editor for the publication of CNTT's Reference Model as a GSMA specification.
